Privacy Notice
How Jewellery Value collects, uses, shares and keeps personal information submitted through this website.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This notice explains how Jewellery Value handles personal information when you visit the website, contact us or submit a valuation enquiry. Jewellery Value is operated by Known By One LLC, which is the controller of that information.
Who we are and how to contact us
Known By One LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, US. Email: contact@jewelleryvalue.co.uk.
The controller is established in the United States and offers this UK-facing service. You can use the email address above for any privacy request or complaint.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we collect:
- your name, email address and town or postcode and, if you give it, your telephone number;
- the type of item, what you need the valuation for, and the details you choose to give about it, such as brand, metal, gemstones, condition, a rough value and description;
- our correspondence with you, and whether and to whom we introduced you;
- if you accept analytics cookies, information about how you use the website collected through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, such as the pages you view, where you click, tap and scroll, your device and browser type and an approximate location derived from your IP address; and
- limited technical, hosting and security logs, such as IP address, browser information, timestamps and request records.
Please do not put bank details, identity documents, medical information or other unnecessary sensitive information in the description field.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
- To receive and assess your enquiry and reply to you. We do this to take steps at your request before you decide whether to enter a contract.
- To introduce you to no more than two independent valuers. We rely on our legitimate interests in operating a useful introduction service and your corresponding interest in receiving relevant quotes.
- To administer enquiries, prevent misuse, secure the website, improve the service and establish or defend legal claims. We rely on our legitimate interests in running the service safely and effectively.
- To keep records or make disclosures where the law requires it. We rely on the relevant legal obligation.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it, using Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. We rely on your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer.
The required form acknowledgement confirms that you have seen this notice and understand the proposed sharing. It is not consent to marketing. We do not use enquiry details for marketing.
Who we share it with
We may share your enquiry with no more than two independent valuers solely so they can assess it, clarify what you need and contact you about a quote. We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with unrelated businesses for their marketing.
A valuer that receives your enquiry controls its own use of your information. Before you instruct one, read its privacy notice and terms.
We use service providers for website hosting (Vercel), email delivery (Resend), email and analytics (Google), analytics (Microsoft) and domain and email routing (Cloudflare). They process information only to provide their service to us. We may disclose information to a regulator, court, law-enforcement body or adviser where required or reasonably necessary.
International transfers
Because the controller is established in the United States, information submitted to the service is processed there. Some of our service providers also process information outside the UK. UK data-protection law continues to apply to our UK-facing processing.
Before we make a restricted transfer to a separate organisation outside the UK, we use a permitted mechanism where required, such as UK adequacy regulations or an appropriate safeguard including the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum. Contact us for information about the safeguard relevant to your data.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that are withdrawn or do not lead to an introduction: up to six months after closure.
- Enquiries that lead to an introduction: up to 24 months after the last activity, so we can administer the introduction and handle queries or complaints.
- Records needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention or legal claims: up to six years, or longer if a dispute or the law requires it.
We may keep anonymous statistics that can no longer identify you.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction or portability. You may also object to processing based on our legitimate interests; tell us your circumstances and we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue or need the information for legal claims.
We do not make decisions about enquiries solely by automated means. To exercise a right, email contact@jewelleryvalue.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity. You can also complain to us first using that address.
You have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use no advertising cookies. Our hosting provider may process technical data that is strictly necessary to deliver and secure the website. The site stores one item in your browser that needs no consent: your cookie choice. It does not identify you to us.
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand which pages are read and whether the enquiry forms are completed. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a container identifier, which last up to two years and hold a random identifier for your browser. We do not send Google your name, email address, telephone number or anything you type into the forms. Google processes the analytics data on our behalf and may transfer it to servers in the United States under its UK and EU data-transfer safeguards. We keep analytics event data for no longer than 14 months. Google's own privacy notice is at policies.google.com/privacy.
With your consent we also use Microsoft Clarity, a service provided by Microsoft, to see how pages are used: it records clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement and shows them to us as session replays and heatmaps. Clarity hides everything typed into the forms, and we hide the confirmation message that repeats your name and town, so the recordings do not show your name, email address, telephone number or item details. It sets cookies named _clck, which lasts up to one year, and _clsk, which lasts one day; both hold a random identifier for your browser. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is refused. Microsoft stores the data in its Azure cloud and may transfer it to the United States under its data-transfer safeguards. Recordings are kept for 30 days, and a sample, plus any we mark as favourites, for up to 9 months. Microsoft's privacy statement is at microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement.
Nothing from Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity loads unless you accept it in the cookie banner, and we treat no choice as a refusal. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawing removes the analytics cookies from your browser and stops further collection.
Changes to this notice
