Terms of Use

Terms governing use of Jewellery Value and its introduction service to independent jewellery and watch valuers.

Last updated: 26 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Jewellery Value and its introduction service. The website is operated by Known By One LLC, of 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, US. By using the website or submitting an enquiry, you agree to these terms.

What we do

Jewellery Value provides general information and, where a suitable valuer is available, introduces you to no more than two independent valuers. We are an introducer. We are not a valuer, jeweller, gemmologist, auctioneer, insurer, insurance broker, solicitor or tax adviser, and we do not prepare, approve or issue valuation reports or certificates.

An enquiry is a request for our help. It is not an instruction to carry out a valuation. We do not guarantee an introduction, quote, appointment or particular response time.

Independent valuers

Valuers are independent businesses and are not our employees, agents or subcontractors. A valuer who contacts you is responsible for explaining its qualifications, professional membership, insurance, quote, scope, basis of value, inspection method, delivery date, terms, privacy practices and complaints process.

You choose whether to instruct a valuer. Any contract for valuation work is directly between you and that valuer, who alone is responsible for performing the work and for the accuracy, completeness and suitability of its report or advice.

We may check a valuer's identity, experience, professional membership and insurance before an introduction. A check is not an endorsement, certification or guarantee of future performance.

Fees and commissions

We do not charge you to submit an enquiry. A valuer sets and collects its own fee under its direct contract with you. We may receive an introduction fee from a valuer if you instruct it. That payment does not oblige you to accept a quote.

Some links to insurers or other businesses may be affiliate links, which pay us a commission if you buy through them. This does not change the price you pay.

Our guides are general information

Website content is general guidance only. It is not legal, tax, insurance, financial or valuation advice and may not fit your circumstances. Prices, insurer limits and other figures change. Check current figures with your insurer, valuer or adviser before relying on them.

We are not affiliated with, approved by or a member of the National Association of Jewellers, the Institute of Registered Valuers, the Jewellery Valuers Association, the Gemmological Association, HMRC or any insurer. References to them are for information only.

Your responsibilities

  • Be at least 18, and own the item or be authorised to seek a valuation of it.
  • Give accurate, relevant information and correct material errors promptly.
  • Do not submit unlawful content or another person's information without authority.
  • Review a valuer's quote, terms, qualifications and insurance before instructing it.

Withdrawing an enquiry and availability

You may withdraw an enquiry by emailing contact@jewelleryvalue.co.uk. If we have already shared it, we will tell the valuer, but you may also need to contact the valuer directly.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website or service, and may decline an enquiry that is incomplete, outside current coverage or unsuitable for the valuers then available. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing affects your mandatory consumer rights.

Subject to that, we are responsible only for loss that is a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill in providing the introduction service. We are not responsible for an independent valuer's act, omission, quote, inspection, valuation, report, advice, delay or failure to perform its contract with you, for business losses, for loss caused by inaccurate information you give, or for events outside our reasonable control.

Content, privacy and complaints

We or our licensors own the website content and branding. You may use it for personal reference, but must not copy, scrape, republish, sell or misuse it, interfere with the website or attempt unauthorised access.

Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect, share and keep personal information, including sharing an enquiry with no more than two independent valuers.

For a complaint about the introduction service, email contact@jewelleryvalue.co.uk. We will acknowledge it and aim to give a full response within 30 days. Complaints about valuation work should go to the valuer under its own complaints procedure.

Law and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

We may update these terms. The terms in force when you submit an enquiry apply to that enquiry. Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@jewelleryvalue.co.uk.
